When I have family visiting we always try to plan to do several things they have not done previously, which is pretty easy since there is so much to do in Kissimmee. The tough part is trying to decide just what to do. This past weekend was no exception. Because the weather was fantastic, we were determined to be outdoors as much as possible – a walk along the lakefront in St. Cloud, Downtown Disney and the Festival of the Masters, and the afternoon at the beach to catch the space shuttle launch. We did decide on one indoor activity, however, ICE! at the Gaylord Palms Resort.
As we entered, I was repeating again, that the carvers all came from China, that they started with two million pounds of ice, and that it really would be a mere nine degrees Fahrenheit inside. The first thing that was surprising to all was the brilliant colors in the ice formations. The next was the detail. We oohed and aahed our way through the carousel display, the large and colorful ornaments, and the ice slides, this year themed with Santa and his reindeer. The traditional nativity scene is always impressive and received the highest accolades all around. As we shed our warm and cozy parkas, all agreed this was worth giving up some of the warm sunshine and absolutely a highlight of their visit.
ICE! never ceases to amaze.

Loved ICE! My daughter kept going on the slides again and again!
Loved your photos! Did you have a problem with your camera batteries?
The batteries were fine; it’s the flash vs. no flash that’s a bit tricky at ICE!
