• Getting ready to hit the road

Hi! I’m Leigh Caldwell, and I’m the first guest blogger for i.seeKissimmee!

I love to share practical information for family travel on my blog, ThemeParkMom.com, so I was honored when the Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau asked me to help kick off their new guest blogger program.

For this trip, I’ve got the holidays on my mind. If you typically visit the Kissimmee area during the summer, you should know that it’s a different place come December. Holiday decorations abound at the resorts, and there are many special holiday attractions to see. It’s my goal to check out what’s happening and share with you my family’s experiences, including:

In addition, I wanted to get outside the theme parks’ gates this time and take in some other family fun, so we’ll be checking out the Old Town entertainment complex, Forever Florida’s eco-safaris and the shopping and dining in downtown Kissimmee.

As you can see, there’s lots of fun to be had over the next week. But tonight, I’ll be in a frenzy of laundry, packing and cleaning. As all moms know, getting ready to relax on vacation is hard work!

My husband, Gerard, and I will be picking up our daughter (6-year-old Gracie) from school tomorrow with the car packed and ready to check into the Gaylord Palms. I have visited this resort to walk through its amazing atriums, but I’ve never gotten a peek inside the guest rooms. I’m excited to be staying there to share all this huge resort has to offer families.

I will be posting here daily over the next week, so I hope you’ll check back and find some ideas for your own Kissimmee vacation. You can also follow me on Twitter for live updates and pictures of our trip. And while you’re at it, you might consider applying to be a guest blogger in this space during your own trip.
