• Singing a Christmas tune at SeaWorld

If you aren’t in the holiday spirit, I guarantee you a trip to SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration will have you humming a holiday tune. SeaWorld has four special holiday stage shows filled with Christmas music.

The park’s decorations are gorgeous – there are lots of blues and greens, which is perfect for a park that celebrates the oceans.

SeaWorld’s Wild Arctic attraction is turned into the Polar Express Experience during the holiday season. We were all completely enchanted by this ride. In the pre-show area, you see scenes from the movie leading up to the boy boarding the train. Board the train (really a motion simulator ride that doesn’t go anywhere) and you are part of the journey to the North Pole. When the ride ends, you are led into the polar animal exhibits, where you can see Santa Claus himself and have your picture made.

We also took in the four holiday shows:

Clyde and Seamore’s Countdown to Christmas: This show features two sea lions, Clyde and Seamore. It’s a holiday version of their regular show, which is full of cheesy humor and sight gags. Audiences love it. Be sure to arrive early at this show – there is a mime who plays jokes on people walking into the theater a few minutes before the show starts. It’s our favorite part.

A Sesame Street Christmas: Big Bird, Elmo, Zoe and the rest of the Sesame Street gang are all here to teach fairy Abby Cadabby about Christmas. I was impressed with the quality of this show – it rivaled a couple of Sesame Street Live touring shows I’ve been to in much larger arenas. All of the kids loved singing along with the familiar Christmas tunes.

Shamu’s Christmas Miracles: This night-time show has touching interviews with children about miracles, moving gospel vocalists (“Are you ready for a miracle?…”) and Shamu! What’s not to love? We also enjoyed the Christmas carol sing-a-long before the show started.

Winter Wonderland on Ice: It’s an ice skating show! outside! In Florida! Colorful fountains behind the skaters add to this very entertaining show, which is followed by fireworks.

SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration continues on the following dates, when the park is open late:

    • Dec. 12 and 13
    • Dec. 18-30
    • Jan. 1-3
