The Best Mexican Food is at Cancun Cafe in Saint Cloud

My prayers were answered 10 years ago when Cancun Cafe opened its doors to customers here in St. Cloud, Florida. Yes, that is when the Mexican Food Gods descended and blessed the building located at 3195 East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.

In all seriousness though, this is “THE” place to go for Mexican Food when you visit Central Florida. Cancun Cafe is a quick drive east of Kissimmee and not too far from the Florida Turnpike.  The menu offerings are vast and include classic Mexican fare such as burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and tacos to seafood, salads, and steaks.  You can wash everything down with soda or iced tea as well as beer, wine, sangria, and margaritas.

Every meal starts with all-you-can-eat tortilla chips and salsa (they have hot and mild available) just tell your server which you prefer.

My husband usually orders the fajitas. I was hoping that he would be able to make it to lunch with us so I could get a picture for you but he couldn’t.  I was, however, able to get a photo of a fellow diner’s carne asada (skirt steak). How good does this look?

Most entres are served with refried beans and rice.  The meal pictured above also comes with pico de gallo and guacamole and all for only $12!

Every time I come to Cancun Cafe I get the spinach enchiladas ($8).  For those of you who may not know, an enchilada is a rolled soft corn tortilla, stuffed with meat, cheese, and/or veggies, smothered in sauce and then melted cheese.  This dish comes with two spinach stuffed enchiladas and the sauce used is a tomatillo sauce, which is a green tomato sauce as opposed to a red sauce.  We love the rice here so much that we ask for a double order in lieu of the beans.

My daughter likes to mix it up when she orders and today she got the Supremo Burrito. Her burrito is made with a giant flour tortilla stuffed with seasoned ground beef and rice. The entire burrito is garnished with lettuce, tomato, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream.  Both of our dishes are so large that we usually only eat half and then take the other half home for dinner.  This is one of the items on the Lunch Special Menu, which you can get Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm, and cost us only $5.75!

Since we were good and only ate half of our meals we decided that we deserved some dessert. I wanted desperately to order two desserts to share with you because they are both so good! But we settled on splitting one, as we were just so full.  Alas, the deep fried ice cream was beat out by the gooey sweetness of the sopapillas!  Sopapillas are deep-fried tortillas drizzled with honey, cinnamon sugar, and topped with whipped cream ($3.50) and are simply delicious here!

I hope that my pictures have convinced you to make a trek out to St. Cloud the next time you are here for some…as the Cancun Cafe sign says…”Great Mexican Food”!

The Cafe is open seven days a week from 11am to 10pm. Just look for the building with the big smiling suns and you will know that you’ve arrived!

      Yeah, Amanda!
I’m thrilled that you too enjoy one of my very favorite restaurants! we live only about five minutes away, and I must confess we eat there frequently … perhaps too frequently! I have NEVER had a disappointing meal there. I love the Arroz con Pollo, the appetizer pizza, actually everything. My daughter expecially likes the chicken burritos en mole. Very tasty.
For a great meal at a terrific price, you can’t beat the Cancun Cafe.

I heart Cancun Cafe, and if you are looking for healthier fare, fret not. I normally get the chicken soup (chicken, cilantro, rice, tomato, and onions in a clear broth), which is hearty, fresh, and oh-so tasty!

Carole…you must try the fried ice cream next time you go. It’s so yummy.

Ryan…good suggestion. Many times I am unable to finish my meal as the portion sizes are so generous. This would be a good one to try when I am looking to have a lighter lunch.

I was amazed at the quality that Cancun Cafe in St. Cloud FL, puts out. There aren’t a lot of Mexican Restaurants in Central Florida, but everything about Cancun Cafe is amazing, The food is terrific, the atmosphere is exciting and fun yet calming when need be and the Service is incredible all at an amazing price. I don’t know how you guys do it, but however you do it, you do it right.
