• LEGO Imagination Center is one of those stores your kids love and never want to leave.

And you have to drag them kicking and screaming out the door.

But it’s also one of those places you have to drag your husband out of as he spends at least an hour revisiting his youth and wondering how he can get away with buying the Star Wars Death Star without having to file for divorce.

At Downtown Disney, LEGO® Imagination Center is more of a retail destination than a store. The amount of hands-on activities in and outside the store will entertain your kids (and husbands) while you sneak off to shop by yourself in peace.

Inside the store, there’s always a LEGO® art piece that a LEGO® artist painstakingly builds to to display for several weeks. My daughter is always hoping to see one of her favorites like Buzz Lightyear of Darth Vader. This trip, it was Sheriff Woody from Toy Story, so my girls were excited, but only excited enough for one picture.

Also inside, kids (and big kids) can create their own mini LEGO® figures to take home (or to be cheap, just make them and leave them) for just $10 for 3 figures. As with this visit, I have to fend off my daughter’s begging to take her own little Luke Skywalker home with us.

Just outside the store is a covered LEGO® design & build area complete with a race ramp for kids to pit their newly-made block cars against each other in an impromptu race. Also outside are some of the most creative diorama boxes for kids and adults to admire as well as a few other life-sized “tourist” creations.

The LEGO® Imagination Center is a quick destination for kids of all creative ages. It’s definitely a great place to take memorable pictures with your kiddies (and big kids).
