• Mona Lisa Suite Hotel – A Hip Place for Families

Mona Lisa Suite Hotel in Celebration, Florida provides a hip option for those seeking some extra space, a kitchen for convenience and money-saving, and a gorgeous pool while visiting the Kissimmee area.

    All Suites
After a long day of travel with a kindergartner and preschooler, it was so nice to be able to unwind a bit in our spacious two-bedroom suite before turning in for the night. I am always a proponent of booking a suite, connecting rooms, a vacation rental home, or doing a home exchange…anything I can do to avoid tip-toeing around sleeping tots or lying in bed awake all night because I turned in pre-sunset at the kids’ bedtime.

The hotel has a modern, artsy feel to it and offers both one- and two-bedroom suites. There are reproductions of works of art adorning the walls by such famous artists as Monet, Picasso, and of course, Di Vinci. Our room is outfitted with furniture with sleek lines, chrome accents, and three flat screen televisions.

Our suite boasts a kitchen with a full refrigerator, dishwasher, dishes, silverware, toaster, and more. There is a table for four for in-room meals, a comfortable family room, and two bedrooms.

    A Sweet Pool
The swimming pool is the centerpiece of this hotel. Rooms ring the circular pool, at the center of which is a palm tree-lined island featuring a hot tub. A portion of the pool is zero-entry, which makes splashing safe and fun for babies and other young guests.

    Transportation
While there is no shuttle service provided from the airport, there are free shuttles to attractions like Disney World, Aquatica, SeaWorld, and Universal Orlando Resort. Be sure to set up your ride the night prior as reservations are required at least six hours in advance! Also, beware that if you return to the hotel mid-day for naps or relaxing poolside, there are no shuttles TO the Disney parks in the evenings. Spur of the moment transportation is also available to downtown Celebration, a nearby fitness center and day spa, and a partnering golf course.

    Dining
The perks don’t end there. In the morning, a continental breakfast of pastries and beverages is complimentary. Heartier fare is available for purchase from a more extensive menu too.

After check-in, our children were beyond exhausted and nearing their Pacific Coast bedtime, so my husband and I opted to order room service rather than subject fellow diners to the noise and defiance that would surely ensue in either of the on-site restaurants, The Galerie Restaurant and The Bistro Restaurant and Bar. The man at the front desk told us that room service was available until 10:00 pm but when I called to place an order at least an hour before that time, we were told there was a “situation” and that we could go downstairs to order food and bring it back up to our room but room service had been cut short.

I mentioned in my first i.seeKissimmee post that I have been carefully watching my caloric intake preparing for this trip. So, I wanted to treat myself to a tasty meal to celebrate our arrival in Florida. Therefore, I order the NY Strip Steak with roasted potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Everything was tasty but the restaurant forgot to pack a steak knife for us so I wound up cutting my meal with a giant bread knife that we found in our room’s kitchen, which my husband found quite amusing.

Why to Choose Mona Lisa Suite Hotel
Mona Lisa Suite Hotel would make a fantastic accommodation option for a trip with tweens or teens who would dig the swanky (yet affordable) vibe of the hotel. It would also make for a great place to stay with the gals on a girlfriend getaway. Families are welcomed here but it does not have a kid-centric atmosphere.

Disclosure: My family was provided with complimentary accommodations at the Mona Lisa Suite Hotel. I always provide my honest opinions, regardless of who foots the bill.

So, I am assuming the suite didn’t offer steak knives either?!

Candie – You are correct…there were no steak knives in the suite. I suppose they don’t expect many guests to eat steak in the room!

I liked this hotel…swanky. The bartender who took our take-out order was awesome and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Our daughter drew him a picture and we delivered it the next day. Not much for kids to do but very comfortable. I think you put it perfectly by satiny they welcome kids but it’s not kid-centric.

Great review, we are also traveling with a 3 and 5 year old. We decided to try the Mona Lisa out and will be staying there the last week in April. I will get back on and update.

Any other jewels about the Mona Lisa or Celebration?
