• Food Trucks!

Seeing our love for food, I am always researching new places to try when we are in the Kissimmee area. A few months ago I read about all these new food trucks opening up, and boy do they sound good! Once a week, they all meet in one location in downtown Orlando complete with entertainment and about five or more various food trucks. Once I found out about the special food truck “pods”, or group of multiple trucks, I was excited to find out they would be together when we were in town. As many of the trucks just sound so good that we wanted to try them all!

Tonight, the trucks that were present included a Korean BBQ Truck, Red Eye BBQ, Big Wheel Provisions, the Yum Yum Cupcake Truck, the Treehouse Truck and a few others.

Our first item of the night were taco boxes from the Korean BBQ Truck. I chose the chicken taco while Steve chose the spicy pork taco. Included in the box was a large taco, a side salad with ginger dressing, a spicy chicken wing, fried rice roll and two pieces of fried tofu. It was all very tasty! The taco had unique flavor unlike any other I have had, which is what made it special. The value of the box was also very good for what was included for only $5.99.

Next up, we tried the “Red Eye” from Red Eye BBQ. I have been reading about this item all around the internet and just had to try it! Pulled pork served on top of corn muffin topped with sweet BBQ sauce and honey. WOW. The pork was amazing! You can tell that time was put into this meat, slow cooked to perfection. It was smokey and had an excellent bark that you only get from long term cooking. Put that meat on anything and it would be good!

Steve then decided to stop by Big Wheel Provisions and get a buffalo bleu pork belly sandwich. This was our first time trying a pork belly sandwich, so we were a bit skeptical that it may be a bit fatty or maybe even a bit disgusting? But wow, this was simply the best item we had all night. It was extremely tender, smokey and delicious. Served with local greens and topped with a buffalo vinegarette, words can not describe how perfect this sandwich was!

Lastly, we stopped by the Treehouse Truck for our last items of the night. I chose the deep fried PB&J with Nutella while Steve decided he still had enough room for “The Luther”. A large bacon cheeseburger served between two Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Yes you heard right, doughnuts! If you love fried food and PB&J, the fried PB&J is for you. The burger itself was delicious and with bacon served on top you can’t go wrong! The doughnuts added a level of sweetness that was a little too much for me, but I am glad we finally got to try this burger!

This event was both fun and delicious. I am glad we got to experience it while we were down here! Most of the food trucks have a website and/or facebook and twitter accounts (see links above) if you want more information and to find their location for the day. I highly recommend trying them out! I am sad we ran out of stomach space because there was so much we wanted to try! One note, these trucks stock up only so much for the day. First come, first serve for the items listed. Once they run out, they are removed from the menu so keep this in mind when you go to visit!
