• Speeding Across the Water In Search of Gators

One of the things that I took away from my previous solo trip to Kissimmee was that I had to come back and take the boys on an airboat ride. I knew they would love it and I was absolutely right. We arrived at Boggy Creek Airboat Rides early in the morning and had a look through the rustic country store across the parking lot and a stroll along the water to peak at the fish before it was time for us to board our boat.

We shared the tour with only two other guests and had front row seats for the action. The boys were quite excited about the fact that they got to sport very technical looking earphones and we were seated quickly and on our way. The driver was great and very knowledgeable. He added just the right touch of adventure and thrills with the sudden increases in speed and turns, but not too much that any of the boys were scared. He was also very knowledgeable about the species and plants that we stopped to see.

Along the way, we spotted a baby alligator, not even a full foot long and the head of a larger alligator who was popping up in the bushes to say hello. There were several species of birds and cranes, including a beautiful blue heron. The flowers on the lily pads were just starting to bloom and the weather was perfect in the early morning. Not too hot or too cold.

After our adventure on the water, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet Bowser, a young gator that was subjected to the love of my boys. Jase especially loved Bowser and was extremely eager to check out every part of his anatomy and get a picture with him. Pictures are available for purchase and are a great souvenir to remember your stop at Boggy Creek Airboats.

I really can’t say enough great things about the staff here. They even stamped the boys hands with the gators paw, which they all though way the neatest thing. It is personal experiences like these, that really keep us coming back to a place over and over again. There are two great locations in Kissimmee (Southport and East Lake Toho) and rates for tours are competitive, with prices starting at only $29.95 for adults and $19.95 for children, with the perfect balance of safety and thrills for every age!
