• Family, Food and Fights at Medieval Times

What better way to end our day, then to enjoy dinner and a show at Medieval Times? We have Medieval Times in Ontario, but I have never had the opportunity to visit it before. We will be making a point to visit again though, because we had an incredible time.

I knew that we would be eating with our hands, but I neglected to mention that to the kids before we arrived. When they were told they had to eat without cutlery, the boys were delighted and Avery was horrified. She got her pout on, and was determined not to enjoy this show.

She couldn’t stay angry for long though, because she loves horses, and she loves to cheer and yell, and both are integral parts of the show. She booed and hissed the opposing knights, and cheered ours on, and her participation was rewarded when our knight threw her a carnation! She stuck to her guns about the food though, and didn’t eat one bite of it without cutlery. The rest of us enjoyed our meals though. The food was delicious, although a bit messy, but they provided us with wet naps and warm wet naps to clean our hands, and I really didn’t mind having to eat with my fingers.

The jousting and sword fights were the highlight for the boys. I was amazed at how well it was choreographed, and couldn’t help but wonder how often they get hurt while practicing their sword fights. They certainly look and sound real! Our knight was out the first round, but it was still a great show.

After the show, we were able to meet the knights and they all autographed the wooden shields that the boys had, and they took pictures with the kids. I could see the excitement in Kellen’s eyes as he greeted each one of them. It was a great experience that we plan to repeat in Toronto.
