Last night’s events were just what we’d been hoping for: a double date with some of our best friends (and newlyweds!) here in Central Florida.
When Russ, my (camera shy) boyfriend of nearly four years and I explained to Ani and Scott that I was this week’s featured i.seeKissimmee blogger, we decided this was the perfect excuse to for a movie night in Kissimmee!
We’ve been wanting to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo for a long, long time. I’ve read all of the books. I’ve seen the Swedish films. I’d read the reviews. Truly, the English language version was long overdue.
And so off to Kissimmee’s The Loop we went! I was impressed with the one-stop-shopping area, which includes a large amount of mainstream stores, like Michael’s, Old Navy, Sports Authority, Pier 1, Bed Bath & Beyond and more! (Perhaps that explains the men walking past our parking spots proudly sporting brand new fishing poles!) You can find a full list of stores here.)
We waited in a moved-quite-quickly line…
And I proudly posted for a quick self-portrait with both my ticket stub and the movie poster…
Before nabbing the kids’ snack pack inside. For $5.75, it was the perfect amount of popcorn, beverage (okay, club soda) and… fruit snacks. I see nothing wrong with a grown woman still loving fruit snacks. Right?
The movie itself? We all loved it. Of course, I knew the plot going in (more information on the movie itself here), but I absolutely warn you: the scenes include some of the most violent I’ve seen, and this is absolutely an “adults only” film.
After the film, we stopped at the Hunters’ Creek Orlando Ale House for a post-movie beer. The patio area was PERFECT for the evening’s beautiful weather, and they had a great beer selection. As a vegetarian who still eats some seafood, I happily enjoyed the New England clam chowder in a bread bowl while everyone else had the Zingers (essentially chicken fingers) Mountain Melt. Think chicken strips mixed with your choice of sauce, all on top of french fries. Healthy? Nope. Fantastic bar food and a great place to be sure to enjoy your favorite sports team’s win while on vacation? Heck yes. The noise and excitement on the patio would create the perfect buzz, and you’re always able to find fellow fans for your team here due to Florida’s transient culture.
We lingered until 9:15 and knew it was time to head home and get a good nights’s sleep for the rest of the busy week!

Florida wife, mom and blogger Karla Gore will visit Kissimmee next week! Want to share your Kissimmee story?
