I couldn’t wait to step into Studio K. When owner (and friend) Kristin Weissman opened the studio just over a year ago, I knew it would be something special. Part dance studio, part public relations agency and part photography studio, the innovative concept was an instant success.
And so I purchased the Living Social package for 10 classes and instantly fell in love.
Kristin herself greeted guests.
In her workout clothes.
It’s not that she doesn’t have an amazing collection of suits and stunning business attire. It’s that, as soon as she finished signing in the excited patrons that filled the lobby, she took the class with us. It was, she happily let me know, her night to dance.
And so, with good friends in tow, about two dozen Studio K fans danced.
(Okay, I pretended to dance, ignoring the uncoordinated woman that strongly resembled me in the mirror. She was more Elaine Bennett than Beyonce.)
The class, Hip Hop Xtreme Cardio, has a strong pop influence, including favorite radio hits that, let’s be honest, I dance to in my bedroom. In my bedroom, there’s no instructors. Or wall to wall mirrors to show me what I really look like.
The instructor, Manny Rose, let us know there were only three rules to the class: keep moving, have fun and smile!
And so smile I did. I smiled as my abs burned. As my legs burned. As I may or may not have stepped on my friend Katie’s foot or kicked the shin of the girl next to me. As I thought that no other class would make me hurt this much or be this much fun.
And I’ve taken a lot of classes. Not that my mad dance moves would ever give it away.
Note additional classes include belly dancing to hip hop, zumba to jazz and everything in between. Studio K is located at 12211 Regency Village Drive #8 Orlando, FL 32821.
