• The Tale of Two Flea Markets

I’d love to pretend that having a significant other who makes maps for a living means that I have a strong sense of direction.  I’d love to pretend that I could tell you, even from my front doorstep, that I know east from west.

But then I’d be lying, because neither of those things are true.

Setting out this past weekend to find a great flea market in Kissimmee, my friend Ani (yes, from the movie adventure earlier this week) and I carpooled to Kissimmee, arriving at one “we’ll-let-it-go-unnamed” flea market which left much to be desired.

We regrouped, deciding to try our hand at another.

And we only went 45 minutes out of our way, heading south instead of north, one time.

    Ouch.

We’ll blame it on the iPhone and not the person reading the iPhone.

Why yes, this is the hat I purchased earlier this week.

But we arrived in one piece to the 192 Flea Market, named so because of the location, and wandered calmly through the different buildings available, each vendor offering to give us a great deal on their wares.

What impressed me is the space for not only the typical flea market items, like Florida-branded t-shirts, candles and purses, but the vendor booths set up for garage sale items.  If you’re looking for a local treasure, whether it be an antique birdcage or an old betamax deck, this is the place to spend your afternoon.

Just make sure you have a strong navigator.

And know your north from your south.

Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, 192 Flea Market is located at  4301 W Vine St, Kissimmee, Florida 34746.
