After spending time at the Farmers’ Market in historic downtown Kissimmee, I couldn’t wait to grab some lunch and get a bit of work done. The joy of my job is that I’m able to work from anywhere with wireless internet.
Using the Urban Spoon app, I found Quokka Coffee was just a few blocks away, located at 131 Broadway Avenue in downtown Kissimmee. Realizing they offer sustainably grown, organic and fair trade coffee as well as a vegetarian-friendly lunch menu meant that I had found my new work spot! (If you haven’t used Urban Spoon on your smartphone before, it’s absolutely worth downloading as you travel, providing and suggesting a comprehensive list of nearby restaurants.)
I ordered the veggie burger on sourdough bread with fresh local tomatoes and cucumbers (they purchase their produce from local growers whenever possible) and a side of chips and an iced tea.
I spent the next four hours by the windows. Working on a surfboard.
Because my “office” for the day was fabulous like that.
A steady stream of customers came and went throughout the afternoon, but the cafe was never uncomfortably crowded, and the staff made me feel welcome.
With just a few days left as the guest blogger, I may just be heading back before the week is through!

When you spend the day blogging and exploring Kissimmee, you have no problem asking random strangers to take your photo.
