    Fill YOUR dome under THEIRS!

    Fill YOUR dome under THEIRS!

The Orlando Science Center offers four floors of fun hands-on educational exhibits, movies, laser shows and Florida’s largest publicly accessible refractory telescope. This is my absolute favorite place to take my daughter on days that are either rainy, too hot or (don’t laugh) too cold for us native Floridians! The best part is that my [...]

Where to take your wild things!

Where to take your wild things!

The Brevard Zoo is located in Melbourne, FL and is a one hour drive East from Kissimmee. It is a place that is near and dear to my heart, because the Rotaract Club that I belonged to in Junior High School was one of the many community groups that helped build it!

Beat The Florida Heat At Aquatica

Beat The Florida Heat At Aquatica

I’ve lived here three years, and had never been to a water park until this weekend.  I tend to prefer lounging by the beach instead of waiting in line for hours to go down a water slide.  But this weekend was all about doing things I don’t normally do in Central Florida, so my husband [...]

If you have the need for speed – visit Old Town Kissimmee

If you have the need for speed – visit Old Town Kissimmee

I love cars and am an avid follower of motor racing including Formula 1 and Indy Cars.  However, wannabe racing drivers like myself can only dream about racing competitively. There are some very good racing packages available where you can get behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lotus or Indy Car, but sometimes you just want [...]

Try DisneyQuest for indoor summer fun at Disney World

Try DisneyQuest for indoor summer fun at Disney World

No, you will not find me searching out “fun things to do outside in the summertime in Florida” unless it involves some kind of water activity. So, finding fun activities and attractions that are indoors, away from the sun and rain, is one of my new obsessions. DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney has been around for [...]

LEGO Imagination Center is one of those stores your kids love and never want to leave.

And you have to drag them kicking and screaming out the door. But it’s also one of those places you have to drag your husband out of as he spends at least an hour revisiting his youth and wondering how he can get away with buying the Star Wars Death Star without having to file [...]

My girls had water park day, and I didn’t have to sell a kidney to do it!

My girls had water park day, and I didn’t have to sell a kidney to do it!

Finding affordable (or “cheap,” as some say) day-long activities for our whole family to enjoy can be a challenge. Especially when our girls are fish and want to spend 8 hours a day in the water. Luckily, we found CoCo Key Water Resort on International Drive, and spent the day splashing and swimming at the [...]

A Dolphin Dip, and More, at Discovery Cove

A Dolphin Dip, and More, at Discovery Cove

It was as if I had turned off Central Florida Parkway and wandered onto a lush Caribbean island complete with hammocks and the soft rhythm of steel drum music. Nothing here really looked much like Orlando, not only because of the exotic vibe, but because the theme park element, surprisingly, just wasn’t there.

Clowning Around at Orlando Circus School

Clowning Around at Orlando Circus School

By the time I was 8, the trampoline had become my world. I’d race home after school, just to spend a few hours flipping around. Front flips, backflips, handsprings. You name it, I was all about that giant, bouncing contraption.

World of Orchids, do you know what it is?

World of Orchids, do you know what it is?

Living in the area of Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Arabian Nights, Wet & Wild and Ripley’s Believe It or Not makes it hard to notice the smaller attractions, the stops of Florida’s past.  But, amidst all of the flashing lights, colors and fragrant food smells is a small reminder of a quieter, lovely and nearly lost [...]

Richard Petty gets you into NASCAR

Maybe you’re not a NASCAR fan. Maybe you’re a die-hard NASCAR fan. Maybe you just want to go really, really, really fast. Then you’ve got to give the Richard Petty Driving Experience a try. Last week as part of her work blogging about Florida travel, Rori was invited by the folks at Richard Petty to [...]

    Environmental Appreciation at Gatorland

    Environmental Appreciation at Gatorland

Before my visit to Gatorland, I was kind of skeptical.  I didn’t know what it would be like, because all I knew about Gatorland was that there was a massive fiberglass gator mouth painted in bright green and pink outside the park.  I was really, really surprised, though, and came away with a new found [...]
