• Where history takes flight

    Where history takes flight

As I mentioned in my Geocaching post, my family and I found a cache (Kissimmee Army Airfield – Pre WWII) near the Kissimmee Gateway Airport, and from it I learned that this particular airport had been a Pre-WWII military base. As we were leaving the cache that day I noticed a sign along the side [...]

Maximum water fun for a minimum price!

Let’s face it, Florida is HOT. We all know it and we all deal with it, mostly by spending our days in the pool! While I do have a pool in my own backyard, sometimes it is just more fun to go to a place with slides and a splash area.

    Theme parks? What theme parks?

    Theme parks? What theme parks?

Hello everyone, my name is Brenda Sullivan and I am a native Floridian who at different times has called the East Coast, Panhandle and Central Florida home!  I am originally from Merritt Island, where I grew up loving the beach life and living so close to Kennedy Space Center that the windows and anything hanging [...]

    Some parting thoughts

    Some parting thoughts

When I set out on my week in Kissimmee to find some things for a group of guys on vacation, I worried a little that it might be too difficult. But I was wrong. I found plenty. Because of time, money and scheduling,  I couldn’t do it all. Here’s some things you could add to [...]

  • Downtown Disney for the guys

    Downtown Disney for the guys

Walt Disney World caters to children and families, right? There’s nothing for a group of guys to do there, right? Wrong. Case in point: Downtown Disney. Sure, there are families and kids roaming the streets, playing in the Lego store, shopping for souvenirs or riding the little choo-choo train. But take a look around.

But what can the guys do here?

But what can the guys do here?

Let’s be honest. August in Florida lends itself to over-the-top metaphors: swimming in pools of sweat, melting into pavements and so on. But even though I am of relatively sound mind and body (though some may disagree), I chose this week in the middle of summer’s dog days to guest blog for www.iseeKissimmee.com. And why [...]

    A Memorable Vacation

    A Memorable Vacation

Where did it go? Wow, time flies when you’re having fun! It seemed like just yesterday we were getting to Florida, and suddenly we find ourselves having to make the long trip home. I’ve never regretted spending a single day in Florida, and this vacation was no exception. We got here, expecting to be hot, [...]

It’s Good to be in Florida

It’s Good to be in Florida

Just two days ago, I was signing out of Fort Bragg for the final time, as I officially left active duty and entered civilian life. I was an Army Paratrooper for around 3 years, and when I returned from Afghanistan in 2009, I told my wife that when I was through with my service, we’d finally do what we promised each other years before, which was that we’d move to Florida.

    Traveling Florida By… Airboat?

    Traveling Florida By… Airboat?

First things first: what’s an airboat? You know those boats with giant fans on the back that you see featured in good guy/bad guy chases through the Everglades and swamps in crime shows based in Florida? You know that boat with a big fan on the back that Mama, Kathy Bates’ character in The Waterboy, [...]

My Name is Britt, and I’m a Florida Convert

My Name is Britt, and I’m a Florida Convert

Ask anyone from any religion and they’ll tell you it’s true: converts are generally more educated and enthusiastic about their faith than those who were born into it.  I think it has something to do with choosing versus accepting, or maybe it’s just the thrill of having something be new. I believe the same generalization [...]

    Until next time…

    Until next time…

As the end of our vacation draws near, we can look back on some magical times.  This time around we revisited some of our favourite places and discovered a few new ones as well. Kissimmee is the heart of Florida but it is the centre of our vacation as well.  Being located in the middle of just [...]

    Golf shopping in Kissimmee

    Golf shopping in Kissimmee

The say that women are from Venus and men are from Mars.  This is most definitely true when it comes to shopping.  Men and women do seem to have polarised views of how, when and where to shop. Whilst my wife likes to browse… for a long, long, long time around the shops, I prefer to [...]
